We offer a broad range of in-house professional engineering and consulting services for full building design and engineering of industrial and commercial facilities. From large new industrial complexes to small interior renovations, our core knowledge of engineering in the food and beverage sector allows us to move quickly from concept to completion, all within the parameters of hygienic design requirements.
IFAB’s In-House Skills:
Our aim is to provide clients with the best engineered building possible to suit their current and future processing demands. IFAB’s core engineering team includes: structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers; building envelope and code compliance; and interior designers.
IFAB designs consider waste streams, throughput efficiencies and expansion requirements in the future. We have a seasoned understanding of:
We help remove bottlenecks from start to finish, and offer many creative solutions for maximum value in the supply chain. To see some examples of our past projects, take a look at our Sector Profiles.
We start with the process layouts to get it right. Our Live AutoCAD sessions aid with an effective evaluation of multiple possible scenarios, all aimed at optimized solutions to ensure smooth product and people flow. These in-person collaboration sessions cut down on the review process, allow for immediate deliberation and evaluation, and help to identify both design constraints and opportunities for cost savings. We can review several options for process flow and building design all in one day, saving all kinds of time, money, and effort. Several long term clients agree that the Live AutoCAD sessions, particularly as part of an overall Master Facility Plan, have made a key difference in both lowering investment costs and allowing projects to launch in the shortest time possible.
Our engineers have completed projects across Canada and are licenced in several provinces including British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario, and Nova Scotia. Much of the IFAB team has been working closely together for several years, building a sound reputation for quality engineering and practical results across Canada.
We have also consulted on several projects outside of Canada, including process flow efficiencies, optimized layouts, building evaluations, and owner’s representation to ensure construction is completed to meet requirements.
Our architectural team designs the building and identify all code compliance items, all considerations for employees, product flow, and the appropriate thermal designs. We have the in-house expertise to coordinate all of these pieces together and work with our clients to ensure the best well thought out product that is aesthetically pleasing, building code compliant, budget effective and functional. We utilize in-house expertise for industrial buildings, and have a network of professional architects for large-scale endeavours.
Our structural engineers provide balanced, creative, and practical solutions on a range of projects big and small. From concept to the final design of buildings new or existing – including additions or modifications – we focus on providing a functional and integrated product. Other areas of expertise include building condition assessments and building restoration design. We have experience with a range of structural systems on past projects dealing with structural and light-gauge steel, cast-in-place and precast concrete, heavy timber, wood and masonry.
Our mechanical engineers provide a wide range of design and analysis in heating and ventilation, servicing for domestic and process water, steam and natural gas, and underground plumbing. An advanced understanding of a wide range of equipment systems and components allows IFAB to deliver real-world mechanical solutions. Mechanical engineering know-how is essential in the food and beverage sector.
IFAB’s electrical engineers take pride in providing balanced, safe, and energy efficient designs. With expertise in power supply, distribution, transformation and lighting, all design work is completed with hygienic design practices. We also have in-house expertise for regulated pre-start health and safety reviews.
REVIT® is the latest in Computer-Aided Design software, with a focus on Building Information Modeling. Designers build a 3-Dimensional virtual model of the project in order to efficiently generate a reliable set of design and construction documents. This method allows for:
This exciting technology is evolving quickly, and we are positioning ourselves to take advantage of these advancements in order to pass these efficiencies along to clients. We are constantly monitoring the available software options and seek to stay ahead of any technological developments in our industry. IFAB is committed to working to the highest industry standard, and using the best tools available, in order to provide the most value and produce the best results for our clients.
